Accessibility
Restoration work should be open to everyone, and so should reading about it.
What we have done
- Every photograph requires a written description before it can be published. Our editing tools refuse to accept one without it.
- Pages are built from real headings, lists and landmarks, so screen readers and reader modes can navigate them.
- Buttons, and the links in our menus and footer, are at least 44 pixels tall — these pages are mostly read outdoors on phones, often by someone wearing gloves. A link inside a sentence is the size of the text around it.
- Keyboard focus is visible, and there is a skip link on every page.
- Text resizes and reflows down to small screens without horizontal scrolling.
- Animation is reduced automatically if your device asks for that.
What we have not yet checked
We would rather say this plainly than claim a standard we have not tested against:
- We have not completed a full color-contrast audit of every element.
- We have not tested with screen readers across the range of browsers and devices people actually use.
- Our forms use Cloudflare Turnstile to keep out spam. Cloudflare says it meets WCAG 2.2 AA; we have not tested it with a screen reader ourselves. If it stops you, email or call us and we will do what the form does by hand.
- We have not yet confirmed how well these pages read on a phone in direct sunlight, which matters because our QR signs are scanned in gardens at midday.
If something does not work for you
Please tell us — it is the fastest way for us to fix it, and we would genuinely rather know. Email hello@gaianrestoration.org or call 404.492.9966.
If you cannot read something on one of our signs, that is also worth telling us. We can change what a sign points to without replacing the sign.
In person
Accessibility at the sites themselves varies — some are on level ground, others are not. If you are planning to visit or join a workday and want to know what to expect, ask us and we will tell you honestly.
